As gas prices continue to fluctuate, the stock market continues to be volatile and other living costs continue to rise, our local businesses are impacted and challenged. These businesses are directly hit –– not just by the conditions listed, but by their own employees' concern and stress about their personal financial situations. Employee stress translates into a loss of productivity for a business. Job performance impacts a business and can have a crippling effect on the organization.

Join Us at the Capitol for the KCHIP Rally

Governor Steve Beshear will formally launch the KCHIP enrollment initiative at a rally on Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the Capitol Rotunda in Frankfort. This is an excellent opportunity to begin the initiative with the participation of local United Ways, local media, child advocates, community leadership and other interested parties.

Tubby and Donna Smith Are First Members of United Way Million Dollar Roundtable

Coach Tubby Smith and his wife Donna returned to the Bluegrass to make local philanthropic history on Friday. The Smiths become the first member of United Way of America’s distinguished Million Dollar Roundtable in Central Kentucky by having donated a total of $1,000,000. During their visit to Lexington this week, they completed their charitable pledge to United Way of the Bluegrass.
